...is discovering your favourite author has a book coming out Friday. In his native language. Twice as long as his previous novel. Which means waiting a few more months for a translation to coalesce. Amazon doesn't even list it yet. Argh. Want. Now.

The book in question being Murakami Haruki's Q184

This was going to be a post extolling the utter awesomeness that is Taniyama Kishou (and Granrodeo), but given my flight was just canceled and I'm stuck in the airport for another 24 hours with about 2000 yen and $20 to my name (AND I thought I'd lost my wallet, since I left it at the payphone when calling ANA's toll-free # for a new reservation for tomorrow, but I got it back in one piece) I'm hardly rah rah.

Apparently there's ONE runway used for Europe and USA-bound flights out of Narita, and there was an accident there prior to me getting to the aiport at 7:20 a.m. At a little after noon, they canceled a whole bunch of flights (I actually envy the folks who got re-routed via bus to Nagoya; at least they're getting where they belong).

So I am going to sit and kill another day reading books and maybe renting a room or getting a shower.

And the real joy is I get to go to work tomorrow anyhow. Otherwise I lose a day of vacation. Wheeeee.

Oh, and apparently Okiayu was at TAF, and I missed him. Sigh.

*thud*

It is the epitome of "teh suck" to be sick on vacation. Full blown cold/ear infection/flu or whatever has descended with a vengeance. Not that it stopped me from getting up disgustingly early and heading back to Big Sight ... where I once again failed at getting most of what I wanted (despite getting there at 6:30).

I did get the Pandora Hearts ticket, at least, though I was pretty exhausted by time that event rolled around (nice sparkly knit hat Toriumi had on!)

My main amusement for the day: discovering that Hayami Sho is typecast even when playing a role in "Momotaro" (which, amusingly, I heard at two different seiyuu events this weekend). The dansei team did a reading, with SekiTomo as the old woman and a parrot, Morikubo Shotarou as the monkey (perfect!), Morimori as a dog (*dies*) and, wait for it ... Hayami as a demon. XDDDD And he wore his oni headband with such obvious joy.

I was also amused that he stated his 07-Ghost character is NOT a devil. *snerk* After watching previews, I disbelieve!

More amusement: Delicious Sentai, a mini-drama written by Hayami for the seiyuu to perform. Featuring Morimori as ... a cuckoo clock, as best I could tell. Heeee!

Namikawa Daisuke and Morikubo Shotarou continue to reign (in my wee brain) as the most ravishable seiyuu out there. So much pretty it's hard for me to process.

And now for some ice cream for my throat and a long hot bath, and then about 12 hours of sleep, I hope.

Okay, I can't honestly say I *enjoyed* TAF. Yes, I saw Suwabe (such long hair!) and Saiga Mitsuki ... from outside the Avex booth. And I saw Hide-san (looking very good), but it was more a day of what failed to happen. I got to Big Sight at 7:20 and even though I was in the first hall of line, I was still way back. So no Natsume event (I did briefly see Inoue Kazuhiko's ... head while passing by). No ticket to the Saiga-Suwabe event. I did get the A&G calendar, but too late to have Suwabe hand it to me.

Add to that some seriously sore feet (my blisters might as well have names and personalities by now) and a sore throat and I was feeling every one of my years today. After watching the first 5 eps of Hetalia at the Media Factory booth, I found a cold wall to sit against and read for an hour. Only way I was going to last to Hide-san's event at 4:00.

On the bright side, I did nab a ticket for tomorrow's 07-Ghost event, so there will be Saiga, Namikawa, Miyata and Hayami (I don't think his character's evil, from what I remember of the first chapter of the manga, but I bet he will be, given time). And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] xaevyn and [livejournal.com profile] duo_rei, I will have a good seat for the Treasure Box event tomorrow with Hayami, Morikubo, Morimori, Romi Paku, Kenyuu Horiuchi, Seki Tomokazu and others. Here's hoping I can also swing passes to the Seiyuu Awards, Basara (more Morimori) and Pandora Hearts (Minagawa & Toriumi!) events, though it's doubtful, since folks will be staking out the line overnight.

At least Seiyuu Festa was awesome tonight: SekiTomo (we touched his hands!), SekiToshi, Sugita, Hatano, Orikasa ... Furuya (oh I am SO doomed; his singing voice is freaking AMAZING. Must go find allllll his CDs).

But now, strawberries, tea and sleep.

I'll do a longer report later, but suffice to say, the Pacifico remains "The Happiest Place on Earth" for me.

Taniyama singing, three times. Once with Mamo-chan. *dies, but dies happy* Not sure who thought of the idea of pairing these two in a song or two, but I can safely say that "Corona" is one of the best live performances I've ever seen, anywhere. Damn can these two sing.

Konishi! I did not think he was going to be there for some reason, but he was in full Western dress -- grey slacks, long jacket, vest and white shirt. I thought he looked awesome ... until he gave Mamo-chan his jacket during encore at which point my brain switched into pure primative mode. Sexy! And hey, he sings better live than he does on CD. Bonus!

Fukuyama. Dork! Very cute dork! Why dork? He was wearing a coverall, like a maintenance worker, over a chambray cowboy type shirt, with a bolero, and big-ass white sneakers. And his hair is lovely long again (yum), but he had the right side done up in three braids ending in beads. Perfect Byakuya hair, minus the doohickey. Should he ever desire to cosplay Byakuya, he can do it perfectly.

Ishikawa -- megane-less! *gasp* Itou fixed this during the encore. Heh. I love watching him sing. He's so comfortable on stage.

Itou and Morita, in coordinated uniforms, on roller blades. *dies laughing*

Konishi and Taniyama in barrister wigs! Konishi was so cute he had Ishikawa on the floor laughing.

And if anyone were ever the antithesis of their character, it's Kishio and Yunoki. Which is fine by me, since I didn't really like Yunoki.

Time for coffee now!

Likely only of interest for Y-Con goers and seiyuu fans....

Friday night fun with Mizoguchi-san & Takahashi Hiroki-san )

I can't listen to it yet because Real Player and the Two Five site are having a hissy fit with one another on my work computer, but here:

http://www.twofive.co.jp/yojinbo/radio/ikekon/index.html

And once I'm actually awake and not blurry and stuck at work, I'll explain /why/ I was chatting with Takahashi Hiroki (aka Hisoka from HunterxHunter, Kikumaru Eiji from PoT) in the wee hours of last Saturday morning via keitai. ^___^

(and if anyone can save it and send it to me so *I* can see if I sound like a twelve year old speaking god awful Japanese, I'd be grateful)
